Cass County: Harrisonville, Lee's Summit and Belton

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS
Missouri 4th Congressional District

Let's talk a little bit about Cass County.

I think it's important to bring something back to my home state here in Missouri. Where I grew up. Was raised. Went to school. Own property. And call home.

There's a lot to share about Cass County in Missouri. This is one of 26 counties in the 4th Congressional District of Missouri that I'm running for U.S. Congress in 2016.

You can't get much more rural and down home than in Cass County. The total population here in Cass County is around 100,000 people. So it's very rural. But it's also one of the largest populated counties in my 4th District. Good morals. Good values. Good small town living.

Cass County is in what I'd call the eastern part of the state of Missouri. The center of the eastern part of the state. Very pretty country. From where I live in Lamar, you just drive up old Highway 71 (or what they now call Interstate 49) about 50 miles, and when you hit Harrisonville, you're there. Not too far down the road.

I remember when I spent a lot of my young adult days in the '80's in Kansas City, I'd make that road trip through Cass County often. Drive through Nevada, Rich Hill and hit Harrisonville. Stop for something to drink and stretch my legs, then drive to Belton before hitting Grandview and Kansas City.

A little bit about Cass county:

Cass County in Missouri started back in 1835.

When the county first started up, a lot of Indian tribes populated the county: Dhegihan, Osage, Quapaw, Ponca, Kansa, Shawnee, Delaware, Sauk, Fox and Kickapoo tribes.

There's also a lot of railroad history in Cass county in the 1800's.

A lot of highways make up Cass county. I've driven on all of them:

Old Highway 71 (Interstate 49)
Route 2
Route 7
Route 58
Route 291

They take you a lot of places.

District wise for Congress, Cass county is broken up in 2 districts: half is District 4, and half is District 5. I'm running in District 4.

Harrisonville is the largest town in Cass county. But Lee's Summit and Belton are 2 of the largest towns as well. Total, there's 26 small towns that make up Cass county:

Archie
Austin
Baldwin Park
Belton
Cleveland
Creighton
Daugherty
Dayton
Drexel
East Lynne
Freeman
Garden City
Gunn City
Harrisonville
Jaudon
Lake Annette
Lake Winnebago
Lee's Summit
Loch Lloyd
Martin City
Peculiar
Pleasant Hill
Raymore
Riverview Estates
Strasburg
West Line

A lot of issues that need to be addressed relate more than ever to small town rural America. And Cass County is no exception.

Taking care of our Farmers. Veterans. Senior Citizens. Children. Education. Health. Equality. The Second Amendment. Making our country great again. Taking care of our own here domestically, and focusing on the little man and woman. The rural communities are our roots. Where everything got started. There's no discipline anyone. This culture doesn't follow rules. It's time to get back to some basic hometown values and traditions.

It's time for a radical change. It's time for outsiders who represent the little man and woman to be a part of our government. It's time to shake things up in Washington. It's time for a political revolution.

My name is Jack Truman. And I'm running for U.S. Congress in Missouri's 4th Congressional District.
