Cole County: Jefferson City, Small Towns, Education and Prisons

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS
Missouri 4th Congressional District

Let's talk a little bit about Cole County.

I think it's important to bring something back to my home state here in Missouri. Where I grew up. Was raised. Went to school. Own property. And call home.

There's a lot to share about Cole County in Missouri. This is one of 26 counties in the 4th Congressional District of Missouri that I'm running for U.S. Congress in 2016.

You can't get much more rural and down home than in Cole County. The total population here in Cole County is around 76,000 people. So it's very rural. Very small town and down home living. Good values. Good morals. Very down home.

Cole County is right smack dab in the center of the state of Missouri. It's about 150 miles northeast from home. A nice drive. In fact, when I filed to run for Congress in March, I had to file in person at the Secretary of State's election office in Jefferson City. From where I live in Lamar, you get on Highway 54 and drive about 130 miles northeast. Very nice drive, and nice small towns to go through on 54 in the District.

A little bit about Cole county:

Cole County in Missouri started back in 1820.

Jefferson City is the largest city in Cole County. It's also the state capital of Missouri. Along with Jeff City, there's 5 towns, 2 villages and 6 unicorporated communities. So when I'm elected to Congress in November, the state's capital will be a part of my Congressional District. That'll be nice.

Jeff City also is home to a state prison. The Missouri Department of Corrections operates the Jeff City Correctional Center. It replaced the Missouri State Penitentiary.

Education is big in Cole County. There's lots of public and private schools. Cole County also has Lincoln University, a black university in Jefferson City.

Here's a list of the towns, villages and communities that make up Cole County:

Jefferson City
Centertown
St. Martins
Wardsville
Taos
Russellville
Lohman
St. Thomas
Elston
Eugene
Henley
Marion
Osage Bluff
Osage City

A lot of issues that need to be addressed relate more than ever to small town rural America. And Cole County is no exception.

Taking care of our Farmers. Veterans. Senior Citizens. Children. Education. Health. Equality. The Second Amendment. Drug reform. Prisons, jails and the Criminal Justice system. Making our country great again. Taking care of our own here domestically, and focusing on the little man and woman. The rural communities are our roots. Where everything got started. There's no discipline anyone. This culture doesn't follow rules. It's time to get back to some basic hometown values and traditions.

I've worked all kinds of jobs from coast to coast.

Got to know all kinds of cultures over my life. From New York to California. Dallas to Chicago. Florida to Utah. All my life. From my childhood to present day.

I have a lifetime of experiences: from education, business, military, public speaking, rural and metropolitan, to creative and innovative experience.

In a nutshell, I've lived a life less traveled. And want to share my lifetime of experiences to make our country a better place. For everyone.

It's time for a radical change. It's time for outsiders who represent the little man and woman to be a part of our government. It's time to shake things up in Washington. It's time for a political revolution.

My name is Jack Truman. And I'm running for U.S. Congress in Missouri's 4th Congressional District.

Cedar County: El Dorado, Stockton and Jerico Springs

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS
Missouri 4th Congressional District

Let's talk a little bit about Cedar County.

I think it's important to bring something back to my home state here in Missouri. Where I grew up. Was raised. Went to school. Own property. And call home.

There's a lot to share about Cedar County in Missouri. This is one of 26 counties in the 4th Congressional District of Missouri that I'm running for U.S. Congress in 2016.

You can't get much more rural and down home than in Cedar County. The total population here in Cedar County is around 14,000 people. So it's very rural. Very small town and down home living. It's one of the smallest populated counties in my 4th District. Good morals. Good values. Good small town living.

Cedar County is in what I'd call the Southwestern part of the state of Missouri. In fact, I consider it my backyard from where I live. Weekly, I commute through Cedar county for shopping, business and checking out my other property. From where I live in Lamar, from C Highway, you can go east to Jerico Springs a few miles down the road, or take some back roads and be in El Dorado Springs or Stockton in about 25 miles.

Cedar County has a lot of memories for me and roots as well. When I was in high school, and my family had our second hand store, the first auction we ever went to was in El Dorado Springs. The property I own and reside, I bought 30 years ago from someone in Jerico Springs. Great roots.

A little bit about Cedar county:

Cedar County in Missouri started back in 1845.

The county was named after Cedar Creek.

El Dorado Springs is the largest town in Cedar County. But Stockton is close to El Dorado's population. Also included is Jerico Springs, Caplinger Mills and Umber View Heights.

A lot of issues that need to be addressed relate more than ever to small town rural America. And Cedar County is no exception.

Taking care of our Farmers. Veterans. Senior Citizens. Children. Education. Health. Equality. The Second Amendment. Making our country great again. Cass County: Harrisonville, Lee's Summit and Belton

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS
Missouri 4th Congressional District

Let's talk a little bit about Cass County.

I think it's important to bring something back to my home state here in Missouri. Where I grew up. Was raised. Went to school. Own property. And call home.

There's a lot to share about Cass County in Missouri. This is one of 26 counties in the 4th Congressional District of Missouri that I'm running for U.S. Congress in 2016.

You can't get much more rural and down home than in Cass County. The total population here in Cass County is around 100,000 people. So it's very rural. But it's also one of the largest populated counties in my 4th District. Good morals. Good values. Good small town living.

Cass County is in what I'd call the eastern part of the state of Missouri. The center of the eastern part of the state. Very pretty country. From where I live in Lamar, you just drive up old Highway 71 (or what they now call Interstate 49) about 50 miles, and when you hit Harrisonville, you're there. Not too far down the road.

I remember when I spent a lot of my young adult days in the '80's in Kansas City, I'd make that road trip through Cass County often. Drive through Nevada, Rich Hill and hit Harrisonville. Stop for something to drink and stretch my legs, then drive to Belton before hitting Grandview and Kansas City.

A little bit about Cass county:

Cass County in Missouri started back in 1835.

When the county first started up, a lot of Indian tribes populated the county: Dhegihan, Osage, Quapaw, Ponca, Kansa, Shawnee, Delaware, Sauk, Fox and Kickapoo tribes.

There's also a lot of railroad history in Cass county in the 1800's.

A lot of highways make up Cass county. I've driven on all of them:

Old Highway 71 (Interstate 49)
Route 2
Route 7
Route 58
Route 291

They take you a lot of places.

District wise for Congress, Cass county is broken up in 2 districts: half is District 4, and half is District 5. I'm running in District 4.

Harrisonville is the largest town in Cass county. But Lee's Summit and Belton are 2 of the largest towns as well. Total, there's 26 small towns that make up Cass county:

Archie
Austin
Baldwin Park
Belton
Cleveland
Creighton
Daugherty
Dayton
Drexel
East Lynne
Freeman
Garden City
Gunn City
Harrisonville
Jaudon
Lake Annette
Lake Winnebago
Lee's Summit
Loch Lloyd
Martin City
Peculiar
Pleasant Hill
Raymore
Riverview Estates
Strasburg
West Line

A lot of issues that need to be addressed relate more than ever to small town rural America. And Cass County is no exception.

It's Official: I'm Running for Congress

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS

Camden County: Camdenton, Osage Beach & Lake of the Ozarks

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS

Let's talk a little bit about Camden County.

I think it's important to bring something back to my home state here in Missouri. Where I grew up. Was raised. Went to school. Own property. And call home.

Camden County is in what I'd call close to the center of the state of Missouri. Just a little south and west of the center. Very pretty country. From where I live in Lamar, you just drive up to El Dorado Springs and get on old Highway 54. And head east. It's about 80 miles east of where I live.

I remember riding up there on my Senior Trip in high school back in 1983 to the Lake of the Ozarks. Very pretty country.

A little bit about Camden county:

Camden County Missouri started back in 1841.

Camdenton is the largest town. But also included is Osage Beach and Lake of the Ozarks. The area has a really neat rural, tourist and down-home redneck style that is very appealing. It's a pretty neat area if you happen to get a chance to drive through it.

A lot of issues that need to be addressed relate more than ever to small town rural America. And Camden County is no exception.

Boone County: the Largest County in My 4th District

JACK TRUMAN FOR U.S. CONGRESS
Missouri 4th Congressional District

There's no place like home.

I think it's important to bring something back to my home state here in Missouri. Where I grew up. Was raised. Went to school. Own property. And call home.

There's a lot to share about Boone County Missouri. This is one of 26 counties in the 4th Congressional District of Missouri that I'm running for U.S. Congress in 2016.

You can't get much more rural and down home than in Boone County. The total population here in Boone County is over 170,000 people. So even though it's a rural area, it is a larger city and a college city. In fact, Boone County is the most populated county for my district, District 4. But it's made up of a lot of small towns, too. And it feels like everyone's right here in your backyard. Good morals. Good values. Good small town living.

Boone County is in the center of the state of Missouri, about 100 miles or so northeast of where I live in Lamar.

A little history and facts about Boone county:

Boone County Missouri started back in 1820.

Columbia is the largest town. But there's 6 local towns, 5 villages, 5 'unincorporated communities', and 10 townships.

The history that Boone County is most known for is a few things. The county is named after Daniel Boone. Back in the 1800's, it was really populated with slave ownership. Slaves made up over 25 percent of the population. The main crops the settlers cultivated were hemp and tobacco. The area was known as 'Little Dixie'. That's ironic, with my film company called Dixie Films.

Several towns, villages and what they call unincorporated towns make up Boone County in central Missouri:

Towns:

Ashland
Centralia
Columbia
Hallsville
Rocheport
Sturgeon

Villages:

Harrisburg
Hartsburg
Huntsdale
McBaine
Pierpont

Unincorporated Communities:

Midway
Rucker
Shaw
Two Mile Prairie
Woodlandville

There's also a lot of schools in Boone County. Lots of public schools, private schools and colleges. So education makes up a lot and plays a big factor in Boone County. 46 public schools. 17 private schools. And 4 colleges:

University of Missouri Columbia
Columbia College
Stephens College
Moberly Community College

Being a college graduate and former college professor, education is very important and personal to me. So it's great to see that it plays a big factor in Boone County.

A lot of issues that need to be addressed relate more than ever to small town rural America. And Boone County is no exception.

Taking care of our Farmers. Veterans. Senior Citizens. Children. Education. Health. Equality. The Second Amendment. Making our country great again. Benton County is just a little north of where I live, east of Clinton, in Central Missouri. Very rural.

A little bit about Benton county:

Benton County Missouri started back in 1835.

The largest town is Warsaw. But there's a few towns that make up the county:

Warsaw
Cole Camp
Lincoln
Edwards
Ionia
Mora
